The Yokohama YK-HTX is one of the most prominent hybrid all-season tires available today. If you analyze the tire’s name, you’ll quickly be able to tell that it’s a highway-terrain tire (H/T), but what does that “X” mean? The entire abbreviation stands for “highway-terrain cross-country,” which means that this is a pavement-oriented tire with mild off-roading capabilities.

Yokohama YK-HTX (Our Review)
Overall Assessment
The Yokohama YK-HTX is one of those new tires that utilize orange oil technology in their tread compound for improved tread life. The compound is also infused with silica content to ensure a high level of traction on dry and wet surfaces.
The tire features an optimized contact patch that improves steering response and handling, in addition to an optimized sidewall to slow down treadwear. If you inspect the outer portion of the tread, you’ll notice a host of shoulder blocks that are designed to adapt to the tread’s condition to ensure long-lasting comfort and quiet driving performance.
The YK-HTX is an excellent tire for navigating wet and snowy pavement, as it’s equipped with 3D siping that grants the tire a lot of biting edges for optimal traction. The siping also adds to the tire’s stability significantly.
Like we already mentioned, this tire is suitable for light-duty off-roading purposes, so we don’t recommend driving on ultra-beaten terrain because it’s not designed for that.
