Yokohama Geolandar H/TS G051 (Our Review)
Overall Assessment
Yokohama is a brand that excels in producing unique purpose-oriented tread designs for their tires, and the Geolandar G051 is an excellent example of that. The tire features an advanced and highly durable tread compound that’s accentuated by a symmetric tread design for great handling and traction on dry pavement.
To further ensure reliable traction on dry pavement, the tire is equipped with rounded shoulders and cross-grooves, which also aid in improving cornering grip and steering response.
Being an all-season tire, the Geolandar G051 is designed to navigate wet terrain with ease, but we can’t say that it’s the best in this category. We think that it could use some improvements in terms of wet traction.
The tire features broad circumferential grooves as well as additional sipes that aid in navigating wet terrain and light snow. They also help in preventing the risk of hydroplaning so that handling isn’t compromised on wet pavement. The overall performance on wet pavement is alright, but we feel there’s a lot of room for improvement.
Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice a host of tread blocks encircling the tire, which helps keep road noise at bay for a pleasant driving experience. All in all, the Geolandar H/TS G015 is a good tire with a decent tread life warranty.

Jim J. says: “If you live in an area where it’s sunny the majority of the year, you’re going to love using the G051 because of its exceptional dry traction. However, if you’re looking for a tire that delivers great traction on wet surfaces and in wintery conditions, I suggest you try a different tire.”

Rick B. says: “I agree with a lot of users that this tire needs improvements in the winter traction department, but it performs very nicely on dry tarmac, and it offers a smooth and comfortable ride quality.”
