The Road Hugger GT Ultra promises to deliver dependable all-season traction and excellent cornering performance, but can it match the likes of Michelin and Bridgestone?
Well, it’s not uncommon for less known brands to unexpectedly outshine other more popular tires, but we can’t really judge without taking a closer look at the tire. Read our full GT Ultra review to learn more about the tire’s features, warranty, and prices.
Road Hugger GT Ultra Tires (Our Review)
The Road Hugger GT Ultra’s tread sports an asymmetrical pattern that offers a decent balance between dry and wet traction. Thanks to the 3D sipes and four circumferential grooves, the GT Ultra can handle wet roads quite well.
If you’re into cornering, the Road Hugger won’t let you down with its large shoulders and intermediate ribs. The tapered groove edges, combined with the added sipes, ensure that the tread wears out slowly and evenly to maximize the tire’s lifetime.
When it comes to steering responsiveness, the Road Hugger GT Ultra makes handling your car smoother than ever, which is unexpected from such a budget-friendly tire.
With its continuous center rib, it’s a no-brainer that this tire’s steering responsiveness is nothing short of impressive. The braking distance is relatively short, even when it’s raining. You’ll feel safe traveling in the rain with this excellent tire.
The only downside is its performance in snow. The tire just struggles in extreme weather, even when the snow isn’t that deep. This is a great all-season tire, but only if you live in an area where heavy snow isn’t likely, or you’ll have to be ready to put on your winter tires when needed.
- Excellent cornering performance
- Great traction on dry and wet pavements
- Exceptional steering responsiveness
- Even treadwear ensures a long lifespan
- Good braking and accelerating performance
- A limited number of models
- Poor performance in snow

The Road Hugger GT Ultra’s price starts at $95 for the smallest size. Prices vary according to sizes, specs, and dealer. You may occasionally find some coupons or discounts here and there, which can help you slash a few bucks off its price.
The Road Hugger GT Ultra’s warranty is not its strongest point. It comes with a limited warranty on the tread, and that’s about it. We’d have preferred the warranty coverage to be more substantial, especially that this isn’t a very cheap tire.
Road Hugger GT Ultra Tire Customer Review
Mark Johnson says: “Good all-season tires are hard to come by, and I was a bit hesitant about the Road Hugger GT Ultra, especially that it’s not from a well-known brand. However, I’ve been rocking these on my Corolla for months now, and I can honestly say that I was impressed with its cornering capabilities and traction performance. Just don’t use it in deep snow. It’s not designed for that.”Mark Johnson posted (4 / 5) review
Ryan M. says: “All-season tires always sounded gimmicky to me. How would someone use the same set of tires all-year-round in all weather conditions? But after giving the GT Ultra a shot, I’m never going back. This tire rocks on all pavements, and it’s pretty comfortable, too. I just wish this tire had a better warranty, but aside from that, it’s a pretty solid one.”Ryan M. posted (5 / 5) review
