Pirelli Tires Overall Assessment

Pirellis is a tire with great sporting heritage and passion and with this comes the sort of quality you would expect from such a storied brand. This tire focuses on integrating functionality with design in order to provide the motorist with comfort and a superior driving experience. Additionally, Pirellis share a similar flair and sophistication which beautifully represents its country of origin. Few can argue that Pirellis are head turners and look at home on the world’s most beautiful cars.

pirelli tires review

Possibly the most unfortunate aspect of Pirelli is their price. This is partly understandable because of the quality of these tires, but the balance is really because of the name. it really is a shame that more motorists aren’t able to enjoy this wonderful tire due to their retail value. The quality of Pirellis has also dropped off slightly in recent years and in 2020 they do not have an option that really distances itself from its competitors.

Quality

Due to their primarily high-end approach, the quality of Pirelli’s tires has always been world class. Their tires are made from the finest materials and refined production process and because of this quality driven mindset, these tires do not have to be replaced often which lessens the blow of the pricey tag.

Overall, Pirelli’s quest to create a complete driving experience for their customers ensures that their quality is exceptional.

Price

Pirellis have always been at the upper end of the price range when it comes to tires. This is largely due to the history and current involvement in world motorsports. In the past, this premium price has always been a result of Pirellis superior overall value proposition. However, over the past few years rival tire makers have closed the gap in quality meaning this brand isn’t as secure in its market potion as it once was.

Range

Pirellis markets their tires as premium performance tires for sporty sedans and coupes, right up to your performance sports cars. In fact, Pirelli is the leading supplier for famous exotic car makers such as Bentley, Ferrari, Pagani and Porsche.

Over the years Pirelli have ventured into slightly different markets to their traditional high end approach including winter tires, and their Scorpion range which caters to SUVs and crossovers.

Fuel Efficiency

Rolling resistance is the amount of force it takes to rotate the wheel on the axis and can be affected by rubber, tread, and aerodynamics of the tire. Pirelli places a large emphasis on rolling resistance as it can affect speed, handling and fuel efficiency.

As a result of this focus on rolling resistance, Pirellis fare favorably when compared to their competitors when it comes to fuel efficiency.

Durability

Durability and safety have always been pillars of tire construction that Pirelli has made a top priority.

Pirellis are constructed strong and durable and have some of the longest tread life in the industry. The tires provide great stability in all weather conditions and are hardy at high speeds.

Most of the tires are constructed with strong internal structures and the latest technologies and when they are combined with Pirelli’s design, create a tire that is both safe and long lasting

Handling

Pirellis are known for having excellent traction and handling. This is evident by multiple high-performance car manufacturers choosing to show their flagship models with Pirelli tread.

This is due to Pirellis use of innovative rubber compounds and the asymmetric tread pattern which has wide circumferential and lateral grooves. This helps keep the integrity of the tire intact and assists with aquaplaning. Lateral grip is enhanced by shoulder design featuring wide blocks which ensures superior cornering at high speeds.

Pirelli P-Zero

Pirelli P-Zero

The Pirelli P-Zero has superb all-round capabilities and is geared toward high performance vehicles. Whether you are accelerating or braking, this tire has great traction throughout; in addition to providing the driver with responsive, smooth handling.

Despite this, The Pirelli P-Zero is one of the best tires ever made for high performance vehicles.

Pirelli Cinturato P7

Pirelli Cinturato P7

If you are a sedan or coupe owner, the Cinturato P7 should be on your list for consideration.

The tire performs exceptionally year-round in a variety of conditions. This tire is a run flat and superb at making its way through torrential conditions. In fact. Its hydroplaning ability is best in class.

The only place this tire really falls short is when you brake on ice.

Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3

pirelli tires reviews

The Sottozero is Pirellis Winter offering, and as far as winter tires go, it is a pretty solid all round performer.

The real problem that lies with the Sottozero is that despite it being a good tire, it isn’t the best in its class. Not even close. In fact, it is probably the fifth best tire in its class in terms of overall performance. This can make it a tough sell to even the most die-hard of Pirelli fans, especially considering its price tag.

Pirelli Tires Customer Review

Dave says: “I have a supercharged 2011 Camaro SS which has 700hp at the wheels and drive a 52-mile round trip to work daily. For me, these tires handle like a dream! Especially at highway speeds. These tires are definitely not for you if you are on a budget. If this is not too much of a problem, you will absolutely love the P-Zero’s. These are performance tires for performance cars and reward the motorist who loves to channel their inner racing driver.”

Sven says: “I switched from my stock BMW 3 series tires to the Pirelli Cinturato P7. There is a good level of grip with these tires and the car was glued to the road, even in wet conditions. The water drains well and inspires confidence in the wet. It felt as if my car was very connected to the road. The one downside for me is the speed at which the tread wears down. Overall, a very enjoyable purchase but unfortunately one that I may have to make again soon.”
