Michelin Defender t+h Tire Review

Overall Assessment

Michelin is a comparison that is always looking to improve on their tires with each new iteration, and the Michelin Defender t+h is no different.

The major complaint about the previous model was its tread life which performed far below the 90,000 mile warranty. Michelin claims the Defender t+h to be the longest lasting tire among its rivals. This is due to the improvements to the tread compound and design. Only time will tell but if this proves to be the case, it would be a great reason to consider the Defender t+h.

In addition to this improvement in tread life, we really loved the Defender t+h’s strong all round performance. Good traction is maintained despite the season or conditions and driver and passengers enjoy a quiet, comfortable ride. This is due to a tire that is packed with technology and a manufacturer with a rich history in producing world class tires.

The only real shortcoming of the Defender t+h is its performance in deep snow or ice. This has to be considered because of its all season tag. The truth is that this is a shortcoming for most all season tires as to get the performance one really desires in these conditions, a dedicated winter tire would be the number one choice.

Overall, the Defender t+h is a top performer and one of the best all season tires available today. A worthy purchase with great value.

Michelin Defender t+h Tire Customer Reviews

TM says: “I only use Defenders with every car I buy. It has proven time and again when driving in the Iowa seasons that it has reliable traction and the security I demand for my family. I will always spend what is needed to ensure this tire is on all of my vehicles. The only challenge aside from snow covered icy roads has been deep, wet, packable snow which is 6-8 inches deep.”

TM posted 4 out of 5 stars (4 / 5) review

Alex says: “I recently bought the Defender T+H to replace all my seasons. I have been buying Michelin for the past 20 years and have had good service from this brand regarding mileage and quality. Shortly after switching to these tires we had 12 cm of snowfall and to my surprise these tires performed decently considering they are only rated as all season. These tires are amazing for dry and wet conditions and are supremely comfortable with little noise. The handling is unbelievable, and my van feels as if it’s brand new, almost better. The Treadwear should not be a problem if proper maintenance is done with rotation, alignment and manual tire pressure checks.”
