The circumferential grooves and numerous lateral grooves on the Defender tires enhance wet traction and handling. They work together to increase grip and expel water from under the tire when conditions are unpleasant. The expulsion of water from the grooves reduces the risk of hydroplaning dramatically and gives drivers more confidence when approaching wet roads.

These features provide strength and stability at increased speeds and ultimately optimize the tires contact with the roads.

Overall Assessment

The impressive wet and dry traction of the Defender tires provide drivers with excellent drive quality and the ability to maneuver smoothly through the roads. The traction on snow however is deemed as average for an all season tire like this. Inside the tire you will observe two steel belts and a polyester cord stature along with the ever so sturdy MaxTouch Construction.

This adds to the strength and durability of the tire at all speeds and variants. Cornering and braking is also made easier through the tires optimized contact with the road, enduring a longer tread life as well. The Michelin Defenders IntelliSipe design features a unique interlocking action which allows the tread block to become more rigid and enhances a lower rolling resistance. Along with this, the integrated Green X technology results in a higher fuel economy and ultimately lower fuel costs for drivers.

As a result, Michelin have produced a brilliant all season tire which is a solid, reliable option for drivers seeking a multifunctional vehicle essential on the market.

Michelin Defender Tire Customer Reviews

Sally says: “This new set of tires totally changed my driving experience with my VW Jetta, made the car ride so much smoother, more flexible around the corners, increased maneuver capabilities, and overall experience is so much better that I would recommend to anyone change tires to this kind as soon as possible, it is real treat!”

Sally posted 5 out of 5 stars (5 / 5) review

Sam Julier says: “I have put over 4,000 miles on these tires on a 1993 Volvo 240 sedan. I do not run them in the winter so I can’t comment on winter traction. These are arguably the best tires I’ve ever run on any vehicle I’ve owned. They’re incredibly quiet on the highway, over bumps and on poor road surfaces. Dry and wet handling is excellent. Resistance to hydroplaning is excellent. Cornering and overall handling is excellent. The last set lasted slightly over 70,000 miles. I will continue to purchase this tire.”
