Goodyear Assurance UltraTour (Our Review)
Overall Assessment
When it comes to offering a quiet and comfortable driving experience, the Assurance UltraTour is among the very best, as it’s equipped with an absorbent layer of rubber that helps absorb the impact of driving over road bumps. Goodyear claims that the Assurance UltraTire delivers 20% better shock absorption than any of the tires within its class.
In addition to the shock-absorbent layer of rubber, the tire is also equipped with an insulating layer that minimizes impacts and vibrations. The dual-layered ComfortEdge sidewall does an excellent job of improving handling as well as ride quality.
The tread features an asymmetrical tread design that, coupled with a continuous center rib and a host of shoulder blocks, ensures optimal traction, handling, cornering, and stability on dry and wet terrain.
To further improve wet traction, the tire features circumferential grooves that reduce the risk of hydroplaning. What’s more, the tire utilizes intensive siping and lots of lateral grooves to boost wet traction and to ensure optimal navigation of snowy terrain.
However, you must keep in mind that this isn’t a winter-specific tire, so even though it’s able to navigate the snow, we wouldn’t recommend using it in deep snow or on the ice.

Sam A. says: “The Assurance UltraTour is one of the best tires I’ve ever tried for the simple fact that it offers everything you might need from a tire at a cost-effective price and it’s backed by a 70,000-mile warranty. It’s not a tire that I’d recommend for use in the snow, though.”
