Featuring SportPlus technology and a profound amount of +Silane additives, the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 was released to revolutionize the UHP tires market.
It took Continental 3 years to produce this all-season tire, so we were pretty optimistic when it came out eventually. Can the DWS06 overshadow its predecessor, the DWS? This is what we attempt to find out in this review.

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 (Our Review)
Overall Assessment
The market of UHP tires is saturated and crowded with products that claim the emblem but fail to deliver a worthy performance. The DWS06 promises to break out of that mold by providing a performance that capitalizes on the already reliable performance of its predecessor, the original DWS, whilst addressing some of its drawbacks.
The original ExtremeContact DWS displayed an admirable performance on dry and wet terrain, but it wasn’t really something to shout about. Also, the original DWS didn’t perform very well in the snow. The DWS06, on the other hand, uses new technologies such as X-Sipe and Traction Grooves to deliver astounding performance on wet, dry, and snowy terrain.
In addition to boosting the tire’s traction, these new technologies helped grant the tire excellent cornering and braking capabilities. The steering is also quite responsive and sharp even under extreme circumstances, thanks to the use of a sport sidewall insert.
The DW06 is also considerably more durable than its predecessor, as it has a two-ply sidewall that grants 35% more stiffness. The features this tire has in common with its predecessor are the Tuned Performance Indicators and the Alignment Verification System.
The DW06 flaunts a different tread design from the original DWS. It’s still asymmetrical, but it’s refined by adding more +Silane additives and silica to ensure better handling and traction on dry and wet terrain, not to mention the Continental’s SportPlus technology.
Pros:
- Has a sport sidewall insert for fluid steering
- Great traction on dry, wet, and snowy terrain
- Stable performance and excellent cornering
- Pretty durable tread compound construction
Cons:
- A little bit expensive for an all-season tire
